Red Hat Honors GovTech and NTU with 2016 Red Hat Innovation Award APAC

SINGAPORE, Oct. 19, 2016 – Red
Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions,
announced that the newly formed Government Technology Agency of
Singapore (GovTech) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) were
named the 2016 Red Hat Innovation Awards APAC winners for
Singapore. The awards were presented at the Red Hat Forum Singapore on the
29th September, 2016.

GovTech developed a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
solution for the government of Singapore using Red Hat OpenShift Container
Platform. The innovative use of open cloud technology enables government
agencies to quickly develop, host and scale applications. Red Hat OpenShift
Container Platform not only helps in accelerating innovation but also helps
GovTech to create and deploy applications with speed and consistency.

Ranked 13th globally and 1st
amongst the world’s best young universities, NTU Singapore has in recent years positioned itself firmly at the
forefront of strategic research in Singapore, helping to fuel Singapore’s drive
for research and innovation. NTU’s Smart Mobility Test Bed (SMTB) project with
system and infrastructure support from the NTU’s High Performance Computing
Centre aims to build cutting edge Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) that
enhance public transportation services and commuter safety, pushing new
frontiers in technology.

The SMART Mobility initiative is one of NTU’s more
visible and strategic projects to improve future living. A highly flexible and
versatile cloud infrastructure helps handle the dynamism of the application.
NTU reached out to Red Hat to help it create a highly scalable and modular,
container-based platform to increase its infrastructure and operational
efficiency. Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
were selected to deploy SMTB V2x applications in any device, any time and
anywhere.

Since the inception of the Red Hat Innovation
Awards APAC in 2011, Red Hat Asia Pacific has seen advancement and leadership
in open source among its partners and customers. Past winners epitomize
creativity, unique problem-solving and innovative uses of Red Hat technology.
This year’s Red Hat Innovation Awards APAC winners stand out for their
outstanding integration of Red Hat solutions, and how they are using open
source to address challenges and transform and modernize their organizations’
information technology to help accelerate innovation and agility.

The nominees represented some of the region’s
leading industries, including infrastructure, banking and finance,
telecommunications, manufacturing, insurance, shipping from both private and
public sectors. A minimum of one winning project was selected from each country
in Red Hat’s APAC region.
