ISACA To Help APAC Organizations Navigate the
“Internet of Threats”
“Internet of Threats”
Inaugural Asia Pacific cybersecurity event to
promote greater awareness in cybersecurity issues around IoT
promote greater awareness in cybersecurity issues around IoT
Singapore (12 October 2016)—As more companies in Asia Pacific see the Internet of Things
(IoT) as strategic to their business in order to effectively compete in the
market[1], there is a greater
need for companies to quickly ramp up their internal skills in creating secure
IoT platforms to accelerate adoption and remain competitive. In line with this,
the “Internet of Threats”—vulnerabilities generated through connected
devices—will be one of the key topics of discussion during the upcoming
CSX 2016 Asia Pacific conference in Singapore from 14- 16 November 2016.

During the event, experts such as Pritesh Parekh, VP & CSO
of Zuora, will launch the IoT Security Framework (ISF). The ISF provides
vendor-agnostic guidance designed to address key security threats around
infrastructure, application development and IoT device security. The session
will also provide in-depth explanations on the various techniques that hackers
use to compromise IoT devices and provide detailed mitigation techniques to
address threats.

Phillip Stoner, Technical Lead, Comtech Telecommunications, will
give participants the chance to view a live demonstration of interconnected
devices to be able to identify the gaps in security, which will allow outsiders
to collect information from a network. The session will include a discussion of
how companies can map out and conduct an in-depth asset identification on
connected systems, so that collected data can be analysed to identify potential
vulnerabilities.

The event will also host discussions and panels around how
privacy concerns will impact IoT deployment, adoption and ongoing operations.
This will cover everything from why privacy matters, particularly with
connected devices, how third-party vendors are already using consumers’ data
and how privacy concerns are shaping cybersecurity.

“Security is going to be a key differentiator as organizations
accelerate their adoption of IoT technologies” said Leonard Ong, CISA, CISM,
CRISC, CGEIT, Board Director of ISACA and associate director at
Merck. “Through CSX 2016 Asia Pacific, organizations in the region will get the
change to deepen the necessary cybersecurity skill sets required to ensure that
next generation IoT solutions are protected against cyberthreats.”
