Singapore, 3 December 2015 – Epson, a global technology leader, is partnering with Matsumoto Yamaga Football Club (FC) and Football Associati
on of Singapore (FAS), to sponsor a player from the Singapore national team to train with Matsumoto Yamaga Football Club in Japan.
Izwan Mahbud, currently playing as goalkeeper for the Singapore team, is the first Singapore player to train with a J-League team. The training stint is part of Epson’s efforts to contribute towards sports and youth development in Singapore and the region.
The opportunity is a result of Epson Singapore’s sponsorship agreement with the Football Association of Singapore, as well as parent company Seiko Epson’s sponsorship agreement with Matsumoto Yamaga FC.
“We are glad to contribute towards the development of our athletes and will continue to work closely to further explore training opportunities with FAS and Matsumoto Yamaga FC. We believe this opportunity will help Izwan in his development and goals, and will work to facilitate a fruitful trip for him. We look forward to further collaboration to provide greater opportunities to our local athletes,” said Ms Tan May Lin, General Manager, Epson Singapore.
Epson is also sponsor of an international youth football exchange programme, a collaboration between FAS and the Matsumoto Yamaga FC to give training opportunities and exposure to Singapore youth athletes. Under this programme, three youth athletes were recently provided opportunities to train with the Matsumoto Youth FC Youth Academy.
