25th November 2015: Flight Centre Singapore has launched a Virtual Reality experience in-
store, offering customers the chance to immerse and virtually transport themselves to a destination of their choice. Scuba dive at The Great Barrier Reef, admire the bright lights of Tokyo or wander through the Ancient Town of Hoi An.
Virtual Reality creates intense moments and rich, enveloping experiences to transform the way consumers can view the world. Brands are increasingly utilising virtual reality to educate and excite their customers and Flight Centre is the first travel retailer in South East Asia to introduce such technology.
Worn like a pair of goggles, the virtual reality headsets block out all external light and tracksthe user’s head movements to change their view, creating a 360 panoramic experience. Flight Centre will launch its Virtual Reality experience with three destinations; Hoi An in Vietnam, Tokyo in Japan and Cairns in Australia, with more destinations in the pipeline.
Suyin Lee, Managing Director of Flight Centre Travel Group says of the development, “The introduction of Virtual Reality is part of Flight Centre’s plan to provide customers with seamless end-to-end travel experiences that begin instore. This exciting initiative enhances the dreaming and planning stage of a trip and inspires customers to interact with destinations they may have never considered.” She adds, “the Virtual Reality experience can also be used as a key sales tool, empowering Flight Centre Travel Experts with first-hand knowledge of the destinations they are promoting to their customers.”
Flight Centre has collaborated with TaKanto Virtual Reality, Singapore’s first Virtual Reality
production company, to pursue this initiative. TaKanto Virtual Reality offers 360 degrees movie production services for all head-mounted displays.
Flight Centre’s Virtual Reality Experience launches first at its headquarters on 137 Cecil Street on Wednesday 25th September, with roll out across all three stores scheduled over the coming weeks.
