Blue Bird’s Interactive Taxi Entertainment system
Blue Bird’s Interactive Taxi Entertainment system
Jakarta, 17th November 2015, NEC Indonesia today announced that it has completed the delivery of a suite of digital signage solutions for Blue Bird’s Interactive Taxi Entertainment (ITE) system, which is the first-of-its kind in Indonesia to provide in-taxi entertainment such as movies and music to passengers on the go.
The ITE system is currently implemented in two taxi depots and installed in 1,000 taxis running in the Greater Jakarta Area. It will be officially launched by Blue Bird on 18 November 2015.
The ITE system is powered by NEC’s leading digital signage solution called NEC Live, a suite of Windows-based applications that creates compelling content on targeted screens. It allows the scheduling and distribution of eye-catching interactive content on display screens, giving taxi passengers an engaging experience during their commute to work or when they are stuck in traffic jams.
The ITE system comprises of:
§ NEC Live Artist – a content creation application
§ NEC Live Communicate – a content scheduling & distribution application
§ NEC Live Update – an application for updating content at a chosen location
§ NEC Live Player – an application for content playback at a chosen location
The “NEC Live Artist” and “NEC Live Communication” applications enable the creation, scheduling and distribution of dynamic content such as videos and music through the servers and workstation at the Blue Bird Taxi headquarters. At the taxi depot, the “NEC LiveUpdate” software is responsible for the server content distribution by consistently updating content and network location. To ensure that an efficient use of network traffic is maintained, only updated/new content is sent, reducing the network traffic requirements. Taxi passengers can view the digital content via the “NEC Live Player” application on the tablet screen in the taxi. The “NEC Live Player” application runs on the media player at each location and ensures that the schedule(s) created and the corresponding content for that schedule is played out.
Takayuki Kano, President Director, PT NEC Indonesia, said “NEC Indonesia is delighted to partner with Blue Bird to roll out its innovativeInteractive Taxi Entertainment system in Jakarta. With its fun and easy to use features, we hope to see the ITE system being implemented in more taxis in other cities in Indonesia as well. In the future, the NEC Live applications will be equipped with other types of features such as e-payment services and GPS (location based features) which will benefit other users.”
