NEC contributes to aquatics center construction in Brazil for
hosting international competitions
São Paulo, Brazil & Tokyo, Japan – October 16, 2015 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced its selection by the Onda Azul consortium, formed by the Zadar and Engetécnica construction companies, to implement and integrate a wide range of systems for the aquatics center under construction in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Once complete, the aquatics center will hold up to 18,000 spectators. NEC was chosen to install fire detection, video monitor and sound systems for the facility, which will consist of two Olympic-sized swimming pools. “Our technologies ensure the security and comfort of both visitors and athletes at the new aquatics center,” said Massato Takakuwa, Government Business Director of NEC in Brazil. “This is accomplished through NEC’s skill and experience in smoothly integrating high-quality communications with reliable infrastructure.”
“NEC has a proven record of successfully providing technological infrastructure for sporting events that capture the attention of audiences throughout the world,” said Daniel Mirabile, President of NEC in Brazil. “We are proud to be participating in this exciting project, which will be a focal point for major sporting events hosted in Brazil, and is expected to contribute to the social and economic development of the region.”
