Asia Pacific, 7 April 2014 – Sony today expanded its S-Series projector line up with the launch of nine new 3LCD Short Throw and Ultra-Short Throw projectors, enhancing its offering for the education market and bringing high quality, economical projection to the classroom. The S-Series projectors offer a longer lasting lamp time of 10,000 hours (Short Throw) and 8,000 hours (Ultra-Short Throw), and achieve outstanding picture quality with a range of colour brightness from 2,600 – 3,200 lumens.
The line-up comprises four new Short Throw models – the VPL-SW235, VPL-SW225, VPL-SX235 and VPL-SX225 – and five new Ultra-Short Throw projectors – the VPL-SW630, VPL-SW620, VPL-SX630, VPL-SW630C and VPL-SW620C. The VPL-SW630C will be showcased at the iCTLT (International Conference on Teaching and Learning with Technology) in Singapore from 7 – 10 April 2014.
Perfect for smaller classrooms and meeting rooms, Sony’s Short Throw and Ultra-Short Throw projectors can throw high-resolution images, up to approximately 2m diagonal across, onto a whiteboard, wall, or any white surface – from distances of around 44cm (XGA Ultra-Short Throw) and 75cm (XGA Short Throw).
Sony’s 3LCD Short Throw projectors provide excellent picture quality with 2,600 – 3,200 lumens colour brightness for natural and vivid image colour. As well as the extended lamp replacement time, the projectors come with additional features that make them environmentally-friendly and reduce the total cost of ownership. ECO mode automatically dims the brightness after 10 minutes if the input signal is static, reducing lamp power to save energy and extend lamp life.

All S-Series models can be connected wirelessly via a PC (Windows or Mac) or tablet (iOS or Android).
“We are continuing to strengthen and enhance our projector line up to meet the needs of the Education market. With the recently enhanced E Series range for replacement business, and now the Short Throw and Ultra-Short Throw S-Series, we have a very compelling offering that suits a variety of educational applications ranging from small to medium-sized rooms, or facilities with different lighting conditions,” said Mr. Daisuke Nagatomi, Assistant General Manager of Visual Presentation Solutions, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP), Sony Electronics Asia Pacific. “In the new S Series, we have also included many useful features such as network presentation and remote control from mobile devices that enhance connectivity and collaboration in the classroom between the teachers and students,” he added.
The S-Series Short Throw projectors (VPL-SX225, VPL-SX235, VPL-SW225 and VPL-SW235) and the Ultra-Short Throw projectors (VPL-SX630, VPL-SW620, VPL-SW620C, VPL-SW630 and VPL-SW630C) will be available in Asia Pacific from June 2014.
