Samsung Africa announced that BlackBerry Messenger application will soon be available on all Galaxy devices for download. BBM was initially only made available to BlackBerry smartphones, but in order to increase their user base, BlackBerry had to move their messenging service to other platforms as well. BBM can be downloaded on Google Play or Samsung Apps in the near future.
Previously, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins had pointed out that BBM will be available on Android and iOS platforms. He believes that BBM will be an important solution for many smartphone users.
The initial version will only have text and group chat functions while other features such as voice and video will be rolled out in later releases. On the other hand, there are leaks of Samsung Galaxy phones running the BBM application. The article was only released in Africa and we believe that we will have more news of BBM for Android from BlackBerry Singapore soon. Stay tuned for more updates on BBM for iOS/Android.
