Evernote’s just made three new security features available:
- Two-Step Verification
- Access History
- Authorized Applications
Two-Step Verification
Each new device you sign in to Evernote with will now require the use of an authentication code to verify that it is really you synchronizing the new device to your account. The security of every device will be accounted for and Evernote users can now rest easy knowing that their sensitive data is better guarded than before. Even if someone gains knowledge of your passwords, they cannot log into your account through foreign devices. The 2-Step Authenticator will bar them from access without the verification codes provided by Evernote.
Evernote users who feel that their data is not sensitive enough to warrant the hassle of tightened security will be glad to find that the 2-Step verification is optional, though you can set it up at a later date if you wish to do so. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
Access History and Authorized Applications
Keep track of how your Evernote account is being used, by authorizing the devices that you use to access your Evernote apps under the Evernote Web Account Settings. This will keep Evernote from asking for password verification everytime you access Evernote apps from your different devices, but keep it secure even in the event of a lost tablet for example. Simply revoke that version of Evernote, and the device will be prompted for password verification next time your account is accessed. Go a step further, and go through the new Access History, to track account activity, and make sure that your account is exclusively yours.
Evernote users can now breathe easier with a more robust security setup in place, especially companies who use Evernote Business to manage their transactions and business information. Evernote ensures that your knowledge is well-protected so you never have to be anxious about losing important information. With no worry about security, you can remember everything – with Evernote.
