Unlimited food supplies |
Located at the heartland of Singapore and backed with one of the best sceneries in the world, the Microsoft Singapore Technology Centre couldn’t be a any better place for hackers to innovate and come out with great app ideas. Whenever you need to have a break from your hard work, simply look out and be greeted with the excellent view of the Singapore Esplanade, or the Marina Bay Skyline. You will probably understand why it’s so much more fun than hardwork now. What’s more? Free high quality buffet style food supply to fuel your brains. XBOX and kinect for you to relax. What? That’s not the end. Popcorn and candyfloss for multiple horror movie screenings throughout the night. Cup noodles for late night supper. No wonder I’m actually falling sick because of all these goodness.

Putting your jealousy aside, a hackathon is still a hackathon and codes were to be written. Other than developing on applications, a few speakers were also invited to give developers opportunities to find more resources to beef up their apps. During the whole session, questions were posted on the Dream Build Launch facebook group and the developer evangelists from Microsoft Singapore who were with us all the way through, helped us with the questions which we had. If you have burning application development questions on the Windows platform, you can still join us and ask questions on the Facebook group here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/dreambuildlaunch/
Agenda for the hackathon |
We will be sharing some of the Lightning Talks topics shared during the hackathon on various different posts. The talks will be extremely useful for those who are planning for development of Windows Store applications. So look out for those topics.
Pitching application ideas |
After the hackathon, a total of 20 applications were successfully presented. Many were impressive while others needed more time to make them complete. Ranging from games to simple yet fun applications such as random decision making applications, there was certainly a good variety. These applications were then voted, and the winner walks away with a new laptop. For the rest, we all were given a new WOWZAPP t-shirt.
Everyone had a exceptionally great time at WOWZAPP 2012. It was really a time when developers could really meet one another and share their ideas and technical expertise and speciality. Spearheading the developer community in Singapore, Microsoft definitely did a excellent job this time.
