Microsoft launched their newest Operating System in Singapore at the Esplanade Theatre Roof Terrace. The event event area was divided into 4 sections and each section tries to show a different theme. The themes were focused on the usage of Windows 8 in various industries and scenarios.
Windows 8 Launch in Singapore |
There were many interesting new Windows 8 based tablets, laptops and all-in-one machines from various vendors showcased at the event.
HP Envy TouchSmart 4 |
Everything is about “Touch” at the Windows 8 Launch Event. There were huge (probably 50“) touch enabled screens from Sharp, touch enabled laptops, etc.
ASUS Transformer Book |
We had the chance to try out many devices of different design, build, material etc. Hardware is getting similar to software. All you need to do is to imagine how you want a product to be, then try to workaround with the limitations you have and build a all new never seen before device. We’re seeing a lot of new designs and ideas at the Windows 8 launch. The Lenovo Yoga and ASUS TAICHI were two of these example, where you really companies innovation and bringing out their extra value compared to others.
ASUS Zenbook Touch |
The ASUS Zenbook Touch is undoubtedly still the sexiest ultrabook found in the midst of the tens of Windows 8 devices found at the event.
Toshiba Satellite U840W |
This device came to my attention. The Toshiba Satellite U840W is a entertainment laptop that comes in a 21:9 aspect ratio, with rare resolution of 1792×768. It looks much longer than any other laptops shown at the event and the extra space on the keyboard area was used to house better speakers to make it a even better entertainer.
At the same time, we had the chance to talk to a designer who explained to us how Windows 8 complements his life and work on his Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet.
