Microsoft has leaked the pricing of their surface tablet. Unlike previous sources which claims that Surface will start at USD199, the starting price of the tablet without Touch Cover starts almost 2.5 times more, at USD499. The website is now taken down, which probably means Microsoft does not mean to show the pricings that early and that they will soon be taking preorders. Pictures courtesy of The Verge.
Surface with Windows RT will not come with “Desktop” mode. This means that it will be powered by an ARM processor, and x86 applications will not be able to be used on the tablet. Only Applications from the Windows Store can be installed on the Surface tablet. One factor preventing consumers to buy the tablet is that the number of applications in the Windows Store is very limited, possibly changing many consumers’ decision to buy the Surface tablet. However, many developers are already hard at work, and the Windows Store is growing greatly.
