NVIDIA is rallying the dev community once again with its Project G-Assist Plug-In Hackathon to help shape the future of its AI-powered gaming assistant. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or just vibing with ideas, this is your chance to build something cool—and potentially win next-gen RTX 50-series hardware while you’re at it.
For the uninitiated, G-Assist is an experimental AI assistant tailored to gamers. Its open framework supports plug-ins that can expand its features such as think voice-activated PC control, dynamic RGB light syncing, or even in-game assistance. NVIDIA first teased these capabilities last year, and now it’s your turn to push them further.
The hackathon encourages developers to build their own plug-ins using languages like Python (ideal for lightweight tasks) or C++ (recommended for complex, performance-critical features). There’s also flexibility to craft custom interactions between your hardware and OS, making room for pretty creative integrations.
Here’s how to get started:
- Join the fray via this link, and fill in your info
- Start building your project, either through available resources through repositories and communities, or just straight into the real deal if you’re already familiar with the game
- Submit your entry that contains a dedicated GitHub repo that hosts the following
- Source Code File (plugin.py)
- Requirements.txt
- Manifest.json
- Config.sjon (If any)
- Plug-in Executable File
- Readme
- Include a short video demoing the plugin (3o seconds to 2 minutes), and promote your submission on X, Instagram, and/or TikTok with the hashtag #AIonRTXHackathon
The prizes? You could score a laptop powered by the GeForce RTX 5090, or even land the elusive Founders Edition RTX 5080 or RTX 5070 desktop GPUs. NVIDIA is also giving away Deep Learning Institute credits for continued AI development and experimentation.
So if you’ve ever wanted to shape how AI fits into the gaming experience, or just want that shiny RTX upgrade, this is your shot.
