AMD has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D, setting a new benchmark for high-end gaming PCs.
Both processors feature AMD’s 2nd-gen 3D V-Cache technology, offering up to 144MB of cache for enhanced performance over their standard counterparts. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D, in particular, boasts an impressive 5.7GHz boost clock. Additionally, compared to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, core and thread counts have doubled.
With a 170W TDP, AMD claims an 8% average performance uplift over the previous flagship, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, and a remarkable 20% lead over Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K. This is despite Intel’s focus on efficiency rather than sheer computational power with its Core Ultra 200S series.
For users seeking X3D performance with fewer cores, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D offers a 12-core, 24-thread configuration, a 5.5GHz boost clock, and 140MB of total cache, all while maintaining a 120W TDP, identical to its non-X3D version.
Availability
The Ryzen 9 9900X3D is priced at US$599, while the Ryzen 9 9950X3D carries a US$699 price tag.
