At the Adobe MAX 2024 creative conference, the Creative Cloud suite is set to receive several major updates, most notably gaining the advantage of NVIDIA RTX GPU acceleration for enhanced speed and smoother production workflows.
While Photoshop has been getting some spotlight recently due to its Gen-AI feature, Premiere Pro will also see similar functionality through the new Generative Extend feature. Powered by the Adobe Firefly Video Model, this tool seamlessly extends video frames at both the start and end, making it easier for creators to fill in missing footage when a few extra seconds are needed.
Though Adobe has assured users that the model is trained on authorized content and commercially safe, only time will tell if any “IP issue” would arise from this disclaimer.
Other AI tools like Enhance Speech, AI Audio Tagging, and Filler Word Detection are designed to streamline the more tedious aspects of video editing, while the Firefly Video Model can also be leveraged to generate filler content or create prototype shots from a source clip.
On another note, the Substance 3D collection has been updated to incorporate Firefly-powered features such as text-to-texture, Text-to-Pattern, and Generative Background, which improve workflows for 3D content creation. These features, accelerated by NVIDIA RTX GPUs, enhance creativity with real-time ray tracing and AI-powered upscaling.
The Substance 3D Viewer is also entering the Open Beta phase, allowing teams to collaborate on 3D files across platforms like Photoshop. New Firefly tools, including Text to 3D and 3D Model to Image, further extend creative possibilities.
For After Effects, Adobe is focused on expanding 3D capabilities with the introduction of the Advanced 3D Renderer, which offers accelerated HDRI lighting via NVIDIA RTX GPUs. Integrating Substance 3D with After Effects also allows for seamless incorporation of 3D materials, greatly enhancing realism and visual fidelity.
In a related update, Topaz Labs has launched a plug-in for Adobe After Effects that uses AI models to improve video quality, running up to 2.5x faster on GeForce RTX GPUs, particularly benefiting RTX 4090 users.
