Western Digital (WD) and SanDisk just launched a brand new set of products in the storage market, each with their own target audience. Be it wanting a humongous cloud storage solution that your family can share, to a simple plug-and-play backup solution, WD got you covered.
My Cloud Home (and Duo)
WD introduces their latest revision of the My Cloud series that now comes with an all-new way to easily aggregate your media and files. Not only can your Personal Computers (PCs) make use of the storage, your smartphones can as well! It also allows for an easy to access storage through the use of the Web Interface.
It comes with 2TB to 8TB for the basic model, while the Duo version comes with 4TB to a whopping 16TB. The latter model also allows for either a RAID 0 or 1 configuration.
400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC
SanDisk also launched their humongous 400GB microSD card that features up to 100MB/s of transfer speed. This is great for content creators that rely heavily on taking videos on the go, and have no time to transfer the data out of their devices. It is sadly only compatible with non-iPhone devices, so do check if your smartphone supports such a huge capacity.
Sandisk iXpand Base
Last but not least, the iXpand Base is a new product that allows for the charging and backing up of your smartphones all at once. The product’s main aim is to provide users with a peace of mind by producing a notification that the backing up of their photos is being done. This can be pretty handy for those who feel that the automatic backing up of data wirelessly is unreliable. The iXpand Base comes in 4 variations of capacity – 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

With more
capture devices available than ever before, such as smartphones, tablets or
even drones, we are experiencing an explosion of digital content creation, and
this is expected to grow further with increasing popularity of capacity
intensive applications such as virtual reality, 4K, 8K and 360 video. As a
result, consumers are faced with growing, disparate collections of cherished
content across devices and no way to easily access it all.

“Taking
just the smartphone for example: Advances in smartphone camera technology has
enabled consumers to capture meaningful moments in high resolution quickly and
easily. With so much content generated and stored on their mobile devices,
users bear the risk of losing these highly valued memories or missing that
perfect shot if they misplace their gadget or when they simply run out of
space,” said Margaret Koh, Sales Director, Asia South, Western Digital
Corporation.

continued, “Since photos and videos are often captured as keepsakes of
memorable and significant moments in life, the notion of these being lost is a
shame. Understanding that consumers care deeply about captured moments in their
lives, we want to offer convenient solutions that enable users to protect and
conserve their precious memories easily and conveniently, such as through the
iXpand Base.”
