Intelligent technologies showcased at ABB’s Data Center Forum in Singapore

Experts discuss trends,
technologies and the future of the mission-critical industry

ABB hosted a one-day forum on
data center technologies featuring leading experts from the industry and
showcasing a range of its innovations and offerings for the data center and
cloud community in Singapore. Themed ‘Intelligent data needs intelligent power’,
the key focus was on digital technologies and smarter infrastructure for the
industrial data center. Many of these build on ABB Ability™, that brings
together all of ABB’s digital products and services, each built from a unique
combination of sector knowledge, technology leadership and digital expertise,
to create real business value for customers.

Held on 11 July 2017, the
event brought together more than 400 business, technical and technology experts
from the industry and provided a platform to discuss solutions for today’s
mission critical infrastructure and explore technologies for the next
generation data center.

The future data center will
have an intelligent grid connection, be able to rapidly provision critical
infrastructure capacity, and will comprise components and systems with
integrated communications, sensing and intelligence. All of this will transform
how operators run the facility, manage service operations and business risk. A
panel discussion on what the digitalization age means for this industry delved
deeper into equipping data centers with technologies that will prepare them for
the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Panelists featured top industry minds from
Uptime Institute, A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University, DODID and ABB. Yet
another interesting session highlighted challenges and resource competencies of
data centers where the audience heard from experts at SingTel, CBRE and Talent
Matrix along with ABB’s global head of technology for data centers, Dave
Sterlace.

Attendees experienced

distribution to automated monitoring and control and services to maximize
productivity and efficiency of data centers.

Data and digitalization are
at the heart of Singapore’s future economy and will revolutionize existing
industries such as finance, advanced manufacturing and healthcare. Computing,
