today announced a slew of products
and services for its wearables and car portable navigation devices at
the
Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in Las Vegas, USA. The US press releases
are attached for an overview of Garmin’s announcements, while
local availability and pricing will be announced on a later date.
These include the new fēnix® 5 line of
multisport GPS watches from Garmin’s top-of -the-line fēnix series, the first
time Garmin is creating multiple sizes of a single product to reach more users
with varying wrist sizes.
smallest fēnix 5s comes with a 42mm watch face, suitable for ladies with
smaller wrists. The standard fēnix 5 is at 47mm while the largest 51mm fēnix 5X
will have additional navigation functions built in.
5 watches are designed for multiple sports including running, hiking, swimming
and biking. The watches contain built-in smarts such as wrist heart-rate
monitor, daily activity tracking, compass, altimeter, barometer plus GPS and
GLONASS support satellite tracking systems, and are water-rated to 100 metres.
compatible smartphone, users can get call, text and email smart notifications
right on their wrist. All fēnix 5 models are compatible with Garmin’s Connect
IQ Store so users can customize their watch with apps, widgets, data fields and
watch faces.
The Connect IQ application store is also
expanding to link Garmin users to services from more leading companies such as
ride-sharing service Uber, cycling accessory company Trek/Bontrager, energy gel
producer GU Energy Labs and nutrition tablet creator nuun, via downloadable apps
created for Garmin devices.
Garmin’s next-generation Portable Navigation
Devices (PNDs), the Garmin Drive 51 and DriveSmart 51 from the Garmin Drive
2017 line, will also be launched here with free live services including traffic and
parking information, and real-time location sharing.
