This week at Oculus Connect 3 we’re announcing that VR Funhouse — the world’s most advanced virtual reality game — will support Oculus Touch.
We’re also bringing two zany new levels — Wall Walker Toss and HotShot Basketball — to our carnival-themed VR experience.
We created VR Funhouse to show how sight, sound, and touch can be brought together in virtual reality to create experiences with unparalleled levels of immersion.
The result has critics — and gamers — smiling. More than 100,000 gamers have downloaded VR Funhouse since we released it in July. Now, with support for Oculus Touch, more gamers and developers can join in the fun.
We’ve worked to open up VR Funhouse every step of the way for casual modders, VR content creators and professional developers alike.
We built VR Funhouse with Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 game engine as well as NVIDIA GameWorks andVRWorks, which gives game developers cutting-edge tools and techniques for creating VR experiences that incorporate sight, sound, and touch (click here for more on our VR Funhouse Modkit).
As a result, developers can now create content for the Oculus Rift utilizing Touch, taking advantage of the assets, blueprints, and artwork that we built to add new content to our game, or incorporate these assets into their own VR experiences.
And with the release of Touch to consumers, later this year, more gamers than ever will be able to tour our virtual carnival.
It’s one that’s packed with more fun than ever: with our latest updates you’ll be able to bounce between nine different mini-games. The game — which you can download for free — lets you take on carnival-inspired challenges such as tossing basketballs, popping balloons, whacking moles, firing flaming arrows, and shooting all sorts of targets from a cartoonish cannon.
