The battery case is guaranteed its performance due to them getting verified by XPAL, a company which ensures top grade performance in batteries.
Let’s have a look at the specifications.
- Battery Type
Lithium Polymer - Battery Capacity
1500 mAh - Input Specification
5V, 1A - Output Specification
5V, 1A - Weight
0.18 lbs - Dimensions
2.5(L) x .65(W) x 5.1(H) in
As you can see, the battery has quite a small capacity at only 1500 mAh. This is due to the size limitation of the battery charger. However, the convenience it brings is definitely worth it as it acts as a casing and a charging dock. You will not have to worry about finding a power plug or begging your friend to use their laptop to charge your phone just because you’re too lazy to take out yours.
The package is supposed to be enclosed in a nice clear plastic box but due to our clumsy hands we accidentally destroyed it.
Upon taking it out you will see the instruction manual and the casing just right behind it.
The package contains the following:
- Battery Case
- Instruction manual
- Audio jack extender
- MicroUSB to USB cable
The on/off switch at the bottom allows you to activate/deactivate charging by simply holding the on/off switch for 2 seconds. For me however, I had to hold on to it for 3 seconds.
The thing I didn’t like about the connector is that when disconnecting the iPhone, the connector will come out with it. I would prefer it if it was fixed onto the charger and not shift-able, allowing for easier disconnection. Moreover, you cannot connect your iPhone to your computer through the MicroUSB port. This is rather troublesome if you are one who listens to songs from your iPhone through your computer.
Moreover, due to its covered bottom, the audio from your phone will sound muffled. They tried to rectify the problem with the two rounded openings(as you can see from beside the lightning dock) but it still sounds muffled. The good thing is there are no problems with talking on the phone as the mic does not appear to be disrupted!
The audio jack extender does a great job as it is easy to plug in and plug out. It also goes along very well with the EarPods!
This sums up the review of PowerSkin’s Battery Case for Apple iPhone 5. The convenience and assurance(due to XPAL) it brings you in your everyday life overwrites all of the minor flaws of the Battery Case and it is definitely worth the buy.
