1st November 2012 – Microsoft Students Partners from Ngee Ann Polytechnic held a exciting event to launch Windows 8 within the polytechnic. There were roadshows within the school campus to get people hyped up for the next generation PC operating system from Microsoft.
The launch started in the day with the showcase of Windows 8 outside Munch canteen. Armed with new Windows 8 tablets, the students from Microsoft Student Partners program were eager to explain to the Polytechnic’s student population all about the new features in Windows 8. Students were also generally very excited with the new platform, prompting many questions to the exhibitors on topics such as the downloading and installing of Windows 8 on the own PCs.

The program for that day was simple and it was kick-started with a consumer introduction to Windows 8. The presentation was given by Mr Shen Yizhe, a developer evangelist from Microsoft Singapore. Mr Shen is also one of Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s alumnus who graduated from the School of Infocomm Technology quite a number of years back. From the new Home screen of Windows 8 to various useful apps that Windows 8 is featured with, the presentation kept attendees excited, fueling the urge to get their hands on the new Operating System.

Ngee Ann Computer Club’s student advisor, Hang Zhi Cheng also talked about the various activities that the club is spearheading, in pursuance of the long term goal of developing a developer community within Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Both Microsoft Student Partners and Ngee Ann Computer Club are proud to be collaborating with each other to provide many opportunities for developer enthusiasts to get recognised, as well as novice/interested developers to jump into the number one developer community within Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Overall, the Windows 8 Launch Party was a huge success. What you’ve seen was the result of all the students from Microsoft Student Partners. Planning of these events started almost a month ago, and everyone was enthusiasted and wrecking their brains to make sure that nothing could go wrong on that day. Much appreciation should be given to this group of students for making the 1st November 2012 a memorable night for all.

Of course, many thanks should be given to ASUS Singapore for their continuous support with various technology events within Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Their showcase of their technologies for the event was what was missing from the actual plannings of the event. With their participation, they added final touches to the whole event, making the whole launch party complete and enoyable.
