Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ in Singapore, pairing large 120Hz AMOLED displays with MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 processor, an included S Pen and Android 17. Recommended retail prices start at S$1,698 for the Tab S12+ Wi-Fi and rise to S$2,148 for the Tab S12 Ultra 5G.

The two tablets are positioned as portable productivity and creative devices. Samsung is also making Adobe Photoshop available on an Android tablet for the first time through a time-limited Galaxy Store exclusive, although a paid subscription is required after the included four-month trial.

Two large AMOLED tablets built around the Dimensity 9500

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2960 × 1848, while the Tab S12+ uses a 12.6-inch, 2800 × 1752 panel. Both support refresh rates up to 120Hz, a claimed peak brightness of 1,600 nits and High Brightness Mode of up to 1,000 nits.

Samsung lists the Tab S12 Ultra at 5.1mm thick and 692g for the Wi-Fi model, or 695g with 5G. The Tab S12+ is 5.3mm thick and weighs 553g or 555g respectively. Both tablets and their included S Pens carry an IP68 rating under laboratory conditions; water and dust resistance can diminish with wear, and Samsung advises against beach or pool use.

Each Singapore configuration combines a 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor with 12GB of memory, 256GB of storage and a microSD slot supporting cards of up to 2TB. Samsung claims that the Tab S12 Ultra delivers up to 61% faster NPU, 19% faster CPU and 17% faster GPU performance than the Tab S11 Ultra. These are manufacturer comparisons based on pre-release hardware, not independent TTR benchmarks.

A redesigned 3D vapour chamber is intended to sustain performance under heavier workloads. Connectivity includes 5G on cellular variants, Bluetooth 6.0 and dual SIM through a physical SIM plus eSIM. The Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, whereas the S12+ is specified with Wi-Fi 6E.

Battery, cameras and audio

The Tab S12 Ultra contains an 11,600mAh battery and the S12+ a 10,600mAh battery. Both support 45W wired charging, but the required adapter is sold separately. Samsung says a full charge takes about 95 minutes with its 45W adapter.

Claimed video-playback endurance reaches 23 hours on the Ultra and 21 hours on the S12+. Those figures come from Samsung's pre-release laboratory testing with a locally stored 720p video, default settings and an LTE connection, so actual runtime will vary with display brightness, network use and workload.

Both devices have a 12-megapixel ultrawide front camera. The Ultra adds an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera beside its 13-megapixel rear camera, while the S12+ has a single 13-megapixel rear camera. Four speakers provide what Samsung describes as four-channel spatial audio.

Android 17, Galaxy AI and desktop-style multitasking

The tablets ship with Android 17 and One UI 9. Multi Window can divide the screen into three sections, while Samsung Notes and Note Assist can summarise notes of at least 200 characters. Samsung says its browser can use Galaxy AI to summarise information across multiple tabs and surface previously visited sources.

The included S Pen does not support Bluetooth Low Energy features. Samsung's optional Pro Keyboard adds an aluminium finish and a configurable Galaxy AI key for launching supported assistants, while the Book Cover Keyboard Slim provides a lighter keyboard-and-stand option.

Samsung promises up to seven generations of operating-system upgrades and security updates, although release timing may vary by model and market.

Photoshop arrives on Android tablets through Galaxy Store

Adobe Photoshop is preloaded in the Galaxy Picks folder and is due to launch through the Galaxy Store on 7 October 2026. Samsung says the tablet interface supports the S Pen and Adobe Firefly features including Generative Fill and Image to Video. Its AI Assistant is currently in beta.

Galaxy Tab S12 buyers receive four months of Photoshop's premium mobile plan with 100 monthly generative credits. Adobe's Galaxy Store exclusivity lasts at least six months, after which the app may appear in other stores.

Other software offers include six months of Google AI Pro and Notability, a year of Goodnotes Essential, a month of Notion Plus and Notion AI for a newly created workspace, and discounted access to LumaFusion and Clip Studio Paint. Trial eligibility, renewals, regional availability and subscription charges vary, so buyers should review each provider's terms before activating an offer.
