SHARP Singapore has announced the arrival of the new AQUOS wish5 smartphone with a sustainable and cutely designed approach.
One of the unique things about this phone is its innovative vibration-activated SOS alert, which is the first of its kind for such implementation. For example, if you’re in an emergency situation, all it takes is a shake of the device to trigger a loud alarm and automatically call pre-set contacts that include your location details.
It even works while tucked away in a bag, giving users discreet and instant access to help when needed most. On top of that, there’s also an AI-powered call assistant built in, which scans incoming call patterns to block potential scam attempts and convert voicemails into text for easy review later on.
Running a 6.6-inch HD+ display, which is a balanced size, it is powered by a mid-tier MediaTek SoC that offers a nice ratio between performance and battery life, augmented by the Intelligent Charge feature that stops charging at 90% for extended battery lifespan.
Built to withstand the elements, the device meets IPX9 waterproof certification and MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability standards, making it resistant to drops, dust, and even high-pressure water jets. It’s a great fit for users who are constantly on the move, indoors or outdoors.
In line with Sharp’s commitment to sustainability, the AQUOS wish5’s casing is made from approximately 60% recycled plastic, with low-VOC paint to minimize environmental impact. It also comes in five colors inspired by Japanese aesthetics: MISORA (blue), NADESHIKO (pink), WAKABA (green), YUKI (white), and SUMI (black).
