Samsung Singapore has revealed they will be bringing in the new 9100 PRO NVMe SSD that runs the latest PCIe 5.0 transfer protocol for blazing fast next-gen speed.
Boasting sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s respectively, the 9100 PRO now holds the crown for the brand’s fastest consumer SSD to date. It also has significantly better random I/O performance at 2,200K IOPS and 2,600K IOPS respectively.
Although it might run hotter than previous generation products, its power efficiency is actually better with 49% improvement at 1,822 and 1,703 MB/s per Watt for the 2TB model versus the 990 PRO’s 4TB 1,221 and 1,255 MB/s per Watt.
But of course, a cooler drive means less risk of thermal throttling and better longevity, so for the 1TB/2TB/4TB model, Samsung has given them an 8.8mmT heatsink, compliant with the PCISIG D8 standard while the 8TB model (The first time Samsung has ever gunned for this capacity by the way) rocks an even thicker 11.25mmT variant.
As usual, the drives support Samsung Magician software out-of-the-box for optimized SSD performance, simplify data migration, ensure data protection, monitor drive health, and provide timely firmware updates.
