ASUS has officially unveiled the list of models that it will be offering for Intel’s new Z890 chipset.
For the ROG family, we have the flagship MAXIMUS-class models of EXTREME, APEX, and HERO while the Strix family continues the GAMING WIFI with the plethora of “E/F/A/I” variants in various form factors and slight adjustments for the most perfect pick for anyone who comes seeking the “eye of gamer”.
The budget gaming series TUF Gaming also has 1 model in the form of the Z890-PRO WIFI running its usual white and metallic accents alongside a cobble-grey PCB. As for the ProArt lineup, it is also a “one-and-done” deal via the Z890-CREATOR WIFI sporting the iconic black and gold colorway focusing on delivering high-performance memory and the best-in-class connectivity options like onboard Thunderbolt 5 for hooking up blazing fast peripherals.
Lastly, the PRIME series finally joins the “premium computing” tier by cutting off any visual flairs and aiming for maximum value by offering essential features and access to high-speed technologies albeit at a slightly lower number count (e.g M.2 slots and whatnot).
A standout feature is the ASUS AI Advisor, which is available across all models. This virtual assistant, powered by a large language model, can answer questions about the motherboard and provide helpful insights. It also works alongside AI Overclocking, AI Networking II, and AI Cooling II to make real-time adjustments for optimal system performance.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the AI features you can expect.

In addition, ASUS has implemented several design and software optimizations to fully harness the power of the Z890 platform, including:
- NitroPath DRAM: Enhanced slot retention, reduced noise interference, and optimized signal pathways for more stable and higher DRAM frequencies (available on the ROG MAXIMUS Z890 EXTREME/HERO and STRIX Z890-E GAMING WIFI).
- Clock Unbuffered DIMM (CUDIMM) Support: DRAM sticks with an integrated clock driver for improved reliability and stability at higher speeds.
- AEMP II Profile: Simplified memory performance optimization, even when mixing different brands and dies, provided they have matching capacities.
- ROG M.2 PowerBoost: Support for up to seven M.2 slots, offering ample storage options.
- Thunderbolt 5 and WiFi 7: Offering the fastest wired and wireless connections for high-speed transfers and reliable connectivity.
- DIY-friendly enhancements: Features like the PCIe Slot Q-Release for easy GPU removal, M.2 Q-Slide for managing different drive lengths, and MyHotKey for toggling EZ Flash or selecting a boot device manually.
