In an attempt to capture more market share by mainstreaming the adoption of 5G cellular connection across the world, Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 SoC today.
As a more affordable option and tiered below the original Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, this model is technically a “downscaled” version in almost all aspects but that’s the point Qualcomm is going for. With this chipset, there may be US$100 or US$150 smartphones in the future that support 5G for fast, secured, and responsive Internet connection – perfect for low-powered yet long-period activities like online class and video binging (best paired with a big block of battery yeah.)
According to Qualcomm, a basic set of AI tech has trickled down to provide a better daily usage experience including AI-powered audio and visual processing.
As for which device will be shipped with the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, Qualcomm only teased that Xiaomi will be one leading the head charge but didn’t publicly mention the smartphone’s model or anything else.
Here’s a quick comparison between the old and new “Snapdragon 4” chipsets (Thanks, GSMArena).
