Hong Kong based PC component global manufacturer ZOTAC showcased their latest technologies at COMPUTEX 2024. Continuing on its momentum on bringing small, portable, yet decent performing PCs to the market, they are challenging the limits with a new handheld device – ZOTAC GAMING ZONE handheld device. There are also many new products shown at their booth.
ZOTAC GAMING ZONE
The new ZOTAC GAMING ZONE handheld device is a high-performance portable PC designed in-house from the grounds up. Even though what was shown at their booth is still in a design/prototype state, the final product shouldn’t stray way from what’s shown.
The ZOTAC ZONE shown features a Ryzen 7 8840U processor with integrated AMD Radeon 780M Graphics. It comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and 512GB of PCIe Gen4 storage. One of the most important aspect to be considered of a handheld device is its battery capacity – the ZONE is equipped with a 48.5Wh Li-ion battery. We are aren’t sure if it is going to last too long per full charge. Regardless, we understand that the product is still in a prototype stage. Since it is a notebook platform scaled down to the size of a 7-inch handheld device there are certainly some details which ZOTAC still has to work on. Nonetheless, we got to respect ZOTAC from differentiating themselves from competing products, by integrating a more powerful AMD Ryzen 7 processor, rather than the typical Ryzen Z1 processor.
Enabling graphics processing capabilities on small form factor PCs – ZBOX External GPU
Winner of the 2024 Best Choice Award at COMPUTEX, the ZBOX External GPU Box (EGB) is equipped with a NVIDIA RTX 3500 Ada Generation workstation-grade professional graphics card. This GPU is typically found on notebook computers, but made available now as a external GPU solution. The EGB brings a GPU compute capabilities to the small form factor PCs which usually cannot afford to include a dedicated GPU due to both power and space constrains. The ZBOX EGB makes brings versatility to the Small Form Factor products made by ZOTAC and other similar computing solutions.
ZBOX Mini PC refreshed – Now comes with Intel Core Ultra processors
Recently, new personal computers are all about their AI computing capabilities. With the hardware refresh of ZBOX Mini with the latest Intel Core Ultra processors, specialized Neural Processing Units (NPU) are now included. These processors provides more efficient AI processing capabilities to these small form factor machines. ZBOX models like the MI672 and CI671 nano can run Generative AI applications like Stable Diffusion for efficiently, adding many other AI enabled use cases and possibilities to these PCs.
ZOTAC ZBOX Healthcare Series
The newly established Healthcare series of Mini PCs from ZOTAC are designed as UN60601-1 compliant edge devices in medical and healthcare scene.
Equipped with the NVIDIA RTX Ada Generation professional GPUs and up to an Intel Core i9 processor, the Healthcare Series of Mini PCs can be installed with the latest software required in the medical field. Moreover, its dedicated GPU can also enable AI powered software to run on it effectively.
It’s interesting to see more unique and use case specific ZOTAC products shown at COMPUTEX 2024. This signifies the brand’s commitment to providing great gaming experiences, as well as the expansion of their strengths in mini PC research and development.
