Is Apple’s Vision Pro too much of an ass to wear? Well, OPPO’s new Air Glass 3 might be on your list.
The prototype was shown off at MWC 2024 a couple of days ago and from a short glimpse, it can actually fool you into thinking it is just a pair of regular “thick black frame” glasses as it weighs just 50g.
OPPO’s magic comes into play by placing a piece of virtual display on the upper corner of your vision which they claim is “The best full-color display of its kind”. Activated with a touch on the frame to enable the AI voice assistant which accepts voice commands via a set of 4x microphones, it also has noise isolation which I assume to be output-related so you can listen to musics.
Other than that, you can use the touch interface to do stuff like voice calls, browse photos, etc. The underlying LLM is OPPO’s in-house AndesGPT so at least the AI partner is contextually capable of helping you do various chores.
But sadly, it is not available outside of China just like several flagship OPPO smartphones in recent years so don’t get your hopes up too much (Or try to get it smuggled, don’t @ me).
