Samsung showcased numerous new products during CES 2024, with a notable focus on desktop gamers as the Odyssey gaming monitor family introduces new OLED selections this year. Let’s delve into the details.
Essentially, these are some of the familiar classic models, such as the OLED G9 boasting an impressive 5120×1440 resolution and 32:9 aspect ratio, and the OLED G8, which now serves as Samsung’s first 4K 16:9 OLED gaming monitor. Both models feature a 240Hz refresh rate and a rapid 0.03ms GtG response time.
On the other hand, the OLED G6 presents a robust QHD + 360Hz + 0.03ms combination at the contemporary sweet spot of 27 inches.
All three models incorporate the innovative OLED Glare-Free technology for reducing light reflections while also having the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification sticker ensuring precise and subtle contrast control. On the other hand, the AMD FreeSync Premium Pro minimizes tearing, delivering a smooth gaming experience.
A variety of I/O ports, including 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB Hub, provide flexibility. The monitor’s stand allows for tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments, and mounting is easy with the VESA mount-compliant back.
The OLED G9 and OLED G8 boast unique features, such as Multi Control, facilitating seamless image and text transfer between linked Galaxy devices. They also include the Samsung SmartThings hub for convenient monitoring of SmartThings-enabled Samsung appliances.
Integrated with Samsung Smart TV and Gaming Hub features, the duo eliminates the necessity for a PC or console for gaming, making it optional rather than mandatory.
For the OLED G6, alongside the panel upgrade, the new Core Lighting+ enhances immersion by emitting ambient lighting based on the displayed content, achieved through the slim 3.9mm metal bezel. The OLED G8 also includes this feature.
