Google has revealed a couple of new features for Android smartphones to take the AI-augmented Search to a new level.
The first one is kind of neat. The new Circle to Search is literally what it is – circle (or highlight, tap, scribble, whatever movement you like) what caught your attention on the screen then have that part Searched exclusively to find out what it is. To launch it, simply long-press the Home button!
It will first launch globally on January 31 but available to selected premium Android smartphones first like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro alongside the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
But what if the thing is not on your screen but rather in real life? Then whip out the Google Lens app and just snap away, you’ll have the option to paste the photo directly into Google Search followed by your query like “What is this thing” or “How do you play this”, anything that will solve your curiosity and questions.
Coming in the following weeks, Singaporeans technically can get an early preview if they enrolled in the Search Generative Experience (SGE) program.
