Seagate has introduced a new product that accommodates to the growing demands of AI-powered applications.
Released under the new family of SkyHawk AI, the 24TB capacity is the first member released for the Video and Imaging Application (VIA) market.
Said industry often amasss huge amounts of data, especially in the edge security market and this is where SkyHawk AI hard drives come in to provide adequate performance and affordable Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
These drives are optimized for network video recorders (NVRs) with AI technology that can record and analyze video footage while running GPU analytics in the background. With support up to 64 HD video cam streams and 32 additional AI streams, a set of these can tackle the needs of huge premises with ease.
It can support 10,000 hours of non-stop AI-enabled surveillance systems with zero dropped frames provided by Seagate’s ImagePerfect AI firmware.
Raw numbers-wise, SkyHawk AI hard drives are rated for up to 2.5 million hours of Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and a 550TBpy workload rate which is 3x higher than the conventional surveillance hard drives.
The SkyHawk Health Management tool further monitors the condition of the drives in terms of environmental and usage purposes which will notify admins if there’s any action required whereas the RAID RapidRebuild feature provides fast volume rebuilds that are also 3x faster than standard hard drives.
Price and Availability
At $1,149, the Seagate AI 24TB is currently available through authorized resellers in Singapore and comes with a 5-year limited warranty and 3-year Rescue Data Recovery Service coverage.
