Noctua has introduced a new mounting kit named NM-M1, designed to enable existing Noctua coolers to embrace the updated Torx-based SecuFirm2+ standard compatible with the latest sockets.
This new series is exceptionally versatile, accommodating coolers with mounting pitches of 83mm and 78mm, making it the most inclusive range to date—supporting AMD’s AM4/AM5 and Intel’s LGA1851/1700/1200/1151/1150/1155/1156.
In the case of Team Red, the dedicated offset mounting option for AM5 is also present which if you don’t know, can effectively reduce CPU temperatures by up to 3°C since they target the CCD chips which are moved a bit away from the center in the Ryzen 7000 series processors.
On the other hand, the new SecuFirm2+ ditches Phillips head screws in favor of Torx T20, enhancing the overall user experience by facilitating easier turns and offering greater durability against wear and tear.
Combining those advantages with the NM-SD1 Torx T20 screwdriver featuring a magnetic tip, this combo allows power users such as reviewers and PC builders to quickly swap out coolers for testing or installing multiple units in bulk orders.
With the exception of the NH-L9a and NH-L9i series, as well as server and workstation models with larger bases, all models post-2005 with the correct size are compatible. The mounting kits are available in nickel-plated or chromax.black variants, with the latter boasting a sleek all-black design for screws, fastening brackets, and mounting bars.
Price and Availability
The official price for the nickel-plated version is at USD/EUR 21.90 while the chromax.black versions are at USD/EUR 24.90 instead. Sizes are not affecting the price so no “discrimination” here.
