AMD has, at last, introduced its latest Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series to once again take HEDT and workstation systems to a new high.
Two categories are revealed together this time around: the standard Threadripper 7000 and the business-focused Threadripper PRO 7000 WX.
As per tradition, the ‘PRO’ variants come equipped with the essential features vital for business use, including enterprise-grade security, modern management capabilities, high reliability, and expandability. The flagship 7995WX SKU is the main powerhouse, catching the spotlight with the impressive 96 physical cores and 192 threads config accompanied by a substantial 480MB cache.
This configuration enables the smooth operation of even the most demanding industrial-class applications and workloads and according to AMD, achieves up to 2 times the performance in Chaos V-Ray.
For the “standard” prosumer market, the top choice is the 7980X, offering 64 cores and 128 threads with a slightly reduced 320MB cache, still making it a formidable chip. HEDT enthusiasts can make full use of the 48 PCIe 5.0 lanes, accommodating GPUs, NVMe drives, and more.
Here’s a brief overview of the specifications for all the announced SKUs.
