Over at Gamescom 2023, ASUS has revealed a trio of new Z790 motherboard for Intel fans who plans to build a 12th/13th Gen-based rig soon.
First, we have the best in class in terms of features and pure looks – the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO.
Carrying shadowy tones as a base to be lighted up by the polymo lighting placed on the I/O shroud, the board will be the centerpiece of any case it goes in.
Made with premium materials to standards, the 20+1 teamed power stage with 90A output rating provides all the power for the highest performing parts to date while the butt load of M.2 slots offers unparalleled storage support of 1x PCIe 5.0 and 4x PCIe 4.0.
On the back, you can find 2x Thunderbolt 4 for connecting high-speed accessories while the next-gen ROG SupremeFX audio featuring ESS ES9218 Quad-DAC ushers clean and detailed audio with high impedance support.
The front panel can take in a USB-C 20 Gbps connection as well which can also provide power delivery thanks to Quick Charge 4+. Lastly, 3x Gen 2 ARGB LED headers and 1x conventional 4-pin lighting header let you hook up all the lighting pollution as you desire.
Oh yes, the board supports WiFi 7 as long as your router is also WiFi 7 compatible (And you’re running Windows 11 of course) while the 2.5GbE port serves the wired gang.
The pre-mounted I/O shield should help installation a bit easier while the PCIe Slot Q-Release button and M.2 Q-Latch make swapping out stuff a breeze.
Still, in the ROG zone, the ROG Strix Z790-A GAMING WIFI II comes in this black base with silver accent style that is quite outspoken.
The board provides a balanced selection of looks and features with 5 M.2 slots, all of which that is covered by a heatsink, 12 USB ports in total, beefy VRM cooling solution, and a uniquely white-coated WiFi-Q antenna.
Last on the list is the TUF GAMING Z790-PRO WIFI for the military or minimalist gang that just wants pure feature accessibility.
One of the notable things is the front panel’s USB-C 20Gbps port that supports USB PD 3.0 while the other is the addition of WiFi Q-Antenna at this price point for high-speed WiFi 6E connectivity out of the box
