Team Red gamers who play on their favorite gaming laptops, Lisa Su heard your cries of wanting more FPS. So here it is, the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D.
As the first-ever mobile processor entry carrying the vertically-stacked 3D V-Cache technology, the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D is packed with 16 cores and 32 threads while capable of boosting up to 5.4GHz.
Hosting a total of 144MB cache, the entire package is rated at 55W+ TDP. While AMD is being vague on this one, expect it to be at around 65W just to be safe.
The physical CPU cores as expected, are built with Zen 4 architecture and utilize Through Silicon Vias (TSVs) process to interconnect each and every silicon from a vertical connection to create a high-performance 3D package or integrated circuits.
As for the performance graph, internal results show that it is generally 15% faster than the standard Ryzen 7945HX in gaming.
For industrial programs or productivity applications, I expect those would benefit even more thanks to the fat stack of cache.
Products carrying the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D will be made available starting August 22 in the form of the ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D machine.
Assuming this is just the tip of the iceberg, other brand partners should follow suit and release their own offerings as well.
