Singapore, 30 April 2021 – Building on the momentum as the first in Singapore to launch 5G, StarHub will be the first in Southeast Asia and the only local operator to introduce NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming service, reimagining gaming experiences for customers. On GeForce NOW Powered by StarHub, customers can play their favourite games on nearly every device and gain access to a vast library of over 800 game titles, without the need for huge storage space or gaming hardware. This is a game-changing move by StarHub to harness the power of 5G and the cloud for customers to enjoy unrivalled connectivity and entertainment.
Combining StarHub’s best-in-class connectivity services, from the latest 5G to fibre broadband with NVIDIA’s cutting-edge technology, cloud gaming on GeForce NOW Powered by StarHub will transform ordinary hardware into extraordinarily powerful gaming set-ups. This allows customers to play the latest and most popular games from their phones, tablets or web browsers – devices that are not specially designed to run demanding games well. With game processing being handled in the cloud, StarHub customers will be able to enjoy flawless, lag-free gameplay on Singapore’s fastest and most responsive network with a one-way latency of 8.4 ms, rated by Tutela, an independent network testing company.
“The future of gaming is in the cloud, and 5G is set to deliver a whole new world of entertainment to more customers, be it casual or avid gamers. We are eager to enable our customers to play without the hassle of hefty downloads and equipment upgrades, and to truly have fun without limitations,” said Johan Buse, Chief, Consumer Business Group, StarHub. “Our vision is to be the powerhouse of gaming for customers. What we want to offer is not just a new platform for gamers, but an entire ecosystem for our gaming customers to live out their fullest gaming potential, bringing them together to co-create an all-new experience that is meaningful, unique, and unmatched, only with StarHub.”
“StarHub is a welcome addition to the GeForce NOW Alliance as our first deployment in Southeast Asia,” said Phil Eisler, VP and GM of GeForce NOW cloud gaming at NVIDIA. “StarHub’s world-class 5G network is the perfect platform to stream GeForce NOW to millions of gamers in Singapore.”
Working with over 300 publishers, such as Deep Silver, Bungie, and Square Enix, GeForce NOW is the world’s leading cloud-gaming platform for PC gamers. Weekly game releases, part of This Week on GFN, continue to expand the game library, while adding new features that improve the experience. Members can look for updates each and every week. Customers can also access more than 80 of the biggest free-to-play games. In addition, they can link their Steam or Epic Games accounts to GeForce NOW, and add the titles that they already own for enjoyment anytime, anywhere, on almost all their devices.
GeForce NOW Powered by StarHub will launch in Singapore in the third quarter of 2021. Monthly and yearly subscription plans will be made available for all consumers, with new and existing StarHub customers primed to enjoy additional attractive deals. In preparation for the commercial launch, StarHub is currently deploying NVIDIA’s RTX servers in its data centres. These gaming servers are capable of delivering real-time ray tracing even among the latest and most demanding games. Connected to them, users can experience an instant upgrade of their screens to high-performance gaming rigs, enabling them to play at 1080p, 60FPS across nearly all their devices.
