SINGAPORE – 26 May 2020 – Samsung Electronics Singapore, the global leader in the gaming monitor market[1], has announced that its new line-up of groundbreaking curved Odyssey gaming monitors will be available for pre-order from 28 May. The new line-up has been completely reimagined with gamers in mind, including radically new curved displays and industry-leading performance features for a whole new way to game.
Featuring Samsung’s 2020 flagship QLED gaming model, the G9 – with an industry-leading 49” display, and the G7, available in 32” and 27”, both Odyssey gaming monitors have been completely redesigned and take immersive gaming to the next level. The G9 and G7 monitors feature an extremely deep curvature – the first-ever monitors to possess deep 1000R curvatures that fills up users’ field of view – and stunning QLED picture quality for true-to-life colour reproduction, as well as no burn-in effect[2] for long periods of time so that the immersive viewing experience is not affected.
The superior performances of the Odyssey monitors have been certified by TÜV Rheinland, a leading international certification organisation which has awarded Samsung the High Performance Curved Display (1000R) and Eye Comfort certificate. Gamers can also take full advantage of the 1ms response time and 240hz RapidCurve™ which put them right in the middle of the action. Samsung’s newest gaming monitors support NVIDIA G-SYNC® Compatibility[3] and Adaptive Sync on DP1.4. Both monitors sport a futuristic design with clean, sleek lines that provide a completely new take on what gaming monitors can look like.
“The word ‘Odyssey’ brings to mind the idea of navigation, of a journey, and our new Odyssey gaming monitors is a testament to our constant journey to drive innovation with industry-leading technology and purpose-driven design. Gamers can enjoy significantly better performances with the Odyssey’s bigger screens and curved displays, and be enthralled and engaged by stunning visuals powered by our QLED technology, particularly for first-person shooter (FPS), flight stimulator and racing games,” said Jacus Long, Director, B2B Display, Samsung Electronics Singapore.
Immersion and speed are critical as gaming is getting more competitive than ever. The new monitors’ gaming-focused, technical innovations take gamers’ needs for speed, responsiveness and minimal distractions into account, equipping them with the best gaming simulation possible.
49” G9: Industry-Leading Monitor for the Most Immersive Gaming and Entertainment Experience
The G9 is the world’s first Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD; 5120×1440 resolution) gaming monitor to feature a rapid, 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 32:9 aspect ratio, a deep and immersive 1000R curvature, and a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2. The experience is similar to having a dual 24-inch, 16:9 monitors set up side-by-side. Crafted to bring gaming imagery to life with vivid colours and details, the monitor presents Quantum Dot technology combined with an HDR1000 panel. Quick response time and refresh rate along with the monitor’s industry-leading 1000R curve minimise distractions and lag time, creating ultra-smooth screen transitions for critical gaming moments where a split second could mean the difference between winning and losing.
The super ultra-wide screen means users can get more done with the picture-by-picture function. It allows simultaneously viewing from two sources at native resolution, while the built-in easy settings box enables convenient management of multiple screens and optimised allocation. Users can now game, watch and chat – all at the same time.
The G9 gaming monitor is also a centrepiece designed with gamer setup in mind. With its striking, glossy white exterior and a futuristic, Infinity Core Lighting glowing rear core, which includes 52 colour shades and five lighting effect options, the G9’s design and lighting effects stand out from the competition and complement any pro-gaming configuration.
32” and 27” G7: A Whole New Gaming Experience
Gamers will appreciate that the G7 has the same quick response time and refresh rate, deep curved display, and overall performance of the G9, in smaller 32” and 27” models.
The G7’s Quad-High Definition (QHD; 2560×1440 resolution), 16:9 aspect ratio and HDR600 panel are complemented by a 600 cd/m2 peak brightness. Additionally, the G7’s QLED screen with Quantum Dot technology provides an exceptionally wide range of accurate colour reproductions that stay crisp and clear even in bright light.
The G7 sports a sleek, matte black exterior and colour-changing rear Core Lighting that can remain static or dim during gameplay, as well as customisable colours based on gamers’ preferences. Replicating edgy armoury in sci-fi games, the G7 features dynamic shapes and lighting on the monitor’s front bezel.
