ASUS ROG has just announced a new 49-inch super ultra wide ROG Strix XG49VQ gaming monitor. Following the footsteps of the Samsung CHG90, the ASUS ROG is probably the second to adopt a 32:9 aspect ratio for its monitor. We would not be surprised if both products are actually identical in terms of specifications.
The ROG Strix XG49VQ comes with a 1800R curved display, and has a resolution of 3840 x 1080. This Double Full HD resolution is similar to having two FullHD monitor side by side. This monitor also supports 144Hz refresh rate, which makes it perfect for games which requires quick reactions and response. It also has HDR capabilities and a 125% sRGB color gamut coverage, so as to deliver lifelike contrast. This is also why, the XG49VQ was able to meet the VESA DisplayHDR400 certification.
This display works with Adaptive-Sync (Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR) which can provide better dynamic refresh rate range, low latency and better brightness and contrast for an overall improvement to visual performance.
Moreover, ASUS Shadow Boost technology is integrated to the display. This technology automatically brightens and enhances the details of dark areas in games without overexposing bright areas. It gives an “unfair” advantage to gamers who needs to move in such dim-lit virtual environments.
XG49VQ also includes DisplayWidget, an intuitive software utility to let users tweak settings or display properties with ASUS Shadow Boost, GameVisual, App Sync™, and blue light filter settings to provide the best image quality possible.
