Since the announcement of the new 8th Generation Intel Core series mobile processors, many brands have been launching new and refreshed products for their gaming notebook lineup. Of course, ASUS was one of the first to lead the race in the releasing of these new products.
Two weeks ago, we’ve covered the launch of the new TUF Gaming FX504 and ROG Zephyrus M gaming notebooks in Singapore. These two new products were positioned to bring much better value to consumers, as compared to other products under the same brand . Particularly, it is the first time that ASUS is introducing a more value oriented gaming notebook with the TUF Gaming series.
But before you reach into your pocket for your wallet, here’s something which you should really know.
ASUS Gaming Notebooks are way overpriced in Singapore
ASUS has just launched the same gaming notebook models in Malaysia yesterday, where our friends at Nasi Lemak Tech covered the event. When we first saw the prices of these notebooks, we were lost for words as the difference was simply unacceptable. Let’s take a few models, which are also available in Singapore, as examples for comparison.

It’s outrageous that the same ROG Zephyrus M GM501 notebook computer under the same brand, same model and same specifications purchased in Singapore would costs 745 SGD more expensive than purchased in Malaysia.
Even if we were to purchase the laptops in Malaysia and get charged an additional 7% GST in Singapore, it would actually still be cheaper. This does not even factor into the potential reduction of costs with GST refund of 6% when leaving Malaysia.
You’re still covered under International Warranty
Moreover, since all ASUS Notebook computers are covered with International Warranty (1 Year), there’s simply no difference in terms of after-sales service support whether you purchased your notebook in either Singapore or Malaysia!(International Warranty Statement is attached at the end of the article)
Why not right?
The next time you have plans to go up north for a short getaway, you could perhaps consider getting yourself a new gaming notebook computer as well. The savings that you will get would possibly pay off the whole trip there anyway.
Buy in Singapore, or in Malaysia? If the savings of 700SGD is worth your time stuck in a traffic jam across the causeway, why not? You would still be able to top up your petrol on the way back for even MORE savings!
