Prices on Cdkeyplus.com are low to begin with. Last November, the site reportedly offered the best prices on games here compared to physical retail shops and other Singapore-based e-commerce platforms.
Launched by local company Digital Plus, its founders aim to make top titles accessible to more gamers by easing the costs of rising game prices.
Andrew Li, chief marketing officer of Digital Plus, said: “Many hot titles came out during the last holiday season, but they were expensive, so we want to have a CNY promotion to make them, and even upcoming blockbusters, more affordable to gamers.”
Methods they use to keep costs low include sourcing for supplies from overseas at better prices and by dealing exclusively in digital codes, thus saving on operational and manpower costs.
“We pass on these cost savings to consumers as much as possible so more can afford to play and enjoy the top selling and upcoming games,” said Mr. Li.
After buying the digital codes from Cdkeyplus.com, gamers redeem and download their games from gaming platforms such as Steam (www.steampowered.com) and Origin (www.origin.com).
“CNY is a great period to play games because of the long holidays and gatherings with friends and relatives,” added Mr. Li.
