At Gamescom 2015, Intel showed off its newest enthusiast desktop platforms for the PC, the unlocked Intel® Core™ i7-6700K and Intel® Core™ i5-6600K desktop processors and supportingIntel® Z170 chipset.
Targeted especially at gamers and overclockers, these new products were on display with Intel hosting a modding contest showing off the cool and creative things people love to do with the desktop platform.
Key features include:
· Full DDR4 memory support
· Full range base-clock for fine-grained CPU speed tuning
· Up to 4 cores at 4.0 GHz base frequency
Intel partners such as Asrock, Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI and Supermicro showed off systems based on the new platform at Gamescom, while OEM partners such as Alienware, ASUS, and HP displayed mind-blowing complete systems.
The PC remains the number one platform for gaming from a volume, revenue, and growth perspective, and today’s announcement start laying the foundation for Intel’s 6th generation Intel® Core™ processor family and Intel® 100 Series chipset coming later this year.
