Singapore (17th April, 2015) — ASUS today proudly announced that Transformer Book Chi, ZenBook Pro UX501, and seven other products were each honoured with the prestigious 2015 Red Dot Award for outstanding product design, reflecting the ASUS commitment to design excellence and its philosophy of providing incredible experiences to users. In-Vehicle Intelligent (IVI) System won the award in the Car Entertainment category; the Transformer Book T Series, Transformer Book Chi, ZenBook Pro UX501, ROG G751, and ASUSPRO business notebooks won in the Notebooks category; the Fonepad Series won in the Tablet PCs category; and the EeeBookSeries won in the Netbooks category.

The winning ASUS products were chosen from a large field of 4,928 entries from 56 countries. Products considered for the award are assessed on a wide range of criteria, including degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, symbolic and emotional content, and ecological compatibility. The Red Dot jury for 2015 comprises of 38 design experts from around the world. Red Dot is an internationally recognised seal of quality, and 2015 marks the 60th anniversary of the awards.

In-Vehicle Intelligent System

In-Vehicle Intelligent (IVI) System — a collaboration between Hotai Motor Co. Ltd. and ASUS — is the world’s first in-vehicle dashboard system to integrate a 7-inch 4G LTE tablet and provide in-car wireless charging, one-touch pairing via near-field communication (NFC), and Bluetooth. The tablet serves as the system’s interactive interface when docked into the vehicle dashboard. This allows users to access personalised content, including local, satellite, and Internet radio; satellite navigation; and a wide range of infotainment services. The innovative docking design and wireless connection between the tablet and the lVI System allows for future software and interface upgrades without the need to replace the entire system.

FonePad Series

ASUS Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) and Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) are 7-inch and 8-inch tablets with built-in cellular data connectivity and dual-SIM phone functionality, designed for people who want one powerful device to keep them connected and entertained. Each tablet features a narrow-bezel design, stunning HD 1280 x 800 HD IPS display, and a generous screen-to-body ratio for a maximised viewing experience in a compact package that fits comfortably in one hand.

ASUS Fonepad 7 and Fonepad 8 are powered by 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom processors that deliver powerful performance for running the latest apps and games. Rear-facing 5MP and front-facing 2MP cameras with PixelMaster technology provide enhanced camera functions that make it easy to capture high-quality images and video.

Both tablets come with Android 4.4 (KitKat) and feature ASUS ZenUI, the mobile user interface that is exclusive to ASUS devices. It features a visual design with modern ‘flat’ icons, customisable vivid device-matching colour themes, animations, ringtones and notification sounds, and a clean layout to present information clearly.

EeeBook X205

EeeBook X205 is an affordable, chic and compact 11.6-inch laptop that weighs less than 1kg and is designed for on-the-go students and young professionals. Powered by Windows 8.1 with Bing for maximum application compatibility, the EeeBook X205 offers users a convenient smartphone-like experience, thanks to its use of Connected Standby technology. Connected Standby enables an almost-instant resume from sleep mode and gives users an enhanced internet experience, as they are always connected to all their social apps and email, even when X205 is in standby mode.
