Xiaomi enters Singapore market with Redmi Smartphone – Quad Core Android for only $169 SGD w/o contract

Today, Xiaomi Singapore Facebook fanpage updated followers with the announcement of Redmi smartphone for Singapore. Redmi is a budget friendly Quad Core mediatek based smartphone that has got all the needed features to be a top end smartphone. Additionally, this phone will come with two SIM card slots and will be a great choice for frequent travelers.

If you’re in town looking for a great smartphone without breaking your piggy bank, the Redmi smartphone is definitely one that you will need not even think before buying. It will be sold at a SRP of SGD169 without any telco contract. This is definitely a price which many can afford. As for me, I will be purchasing one as a spare phone. We are unsure about the number of units available at launch.

Xiaomi has stormed the China market with their famous Xiaomi smartphone. Moving into international marketplace, they have recently opened their office in Singapore. With the attractive pricing and high specifications of the Redmi smartphone, we are quite sure that Xiaomi is going to capture quite a percentage of the Singapore market as well. However, Xiaomi will need to work hard to improve their image as an “China brand/ China made phone” for Singaporeans as many have stereotypes with China branded phones.

We will do a full review of the Xiaomi Redmi smartphone once we get our hands on one of it.
