Lenovo Launches Refreshed ThinkPad X1 Carbon Ultrabook and Miix 2 Tablet in Singapore
Highly-Awaited ThinkPad X1 Carbon Scooped 20 Product Awards at CES 2014
Singapore – February 14, 2013: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced two new devices that will be expanding its PC Plus portfolio of devices in Singapore – the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Ultrabook and the Windows 8-powered Miix 2 8-inch Tablet. The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a highly-anticipated upgrade to the original model which has been a perennial favourite of on-the-go executives everywhere, whilst the Miix 2 8” is Lenovo’s first 8-inch Windows tablet, a compact workhorse that meets the demands of both productivity and entertainment.
“Aside from being the lightest 14 inch Ultrabook in the world, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon delivers a stunning user experience with new interactive methods and represents another step in our PC plus journey.” said Jessie Quek, Country General Manager, Lenovo Singapore. “On the other hand, the Miix 2 8” allows users to take advantage of a compact form factor without sacrificing performance and is a great example of how thoughtful design can deliver the best of both worlds.”
Power and Sleekness Redefined
The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is uncompromisingly light, weighing less than 1.3kg, which makes it the lightest 14-inch Ultrabook in the world. At the same time, it comes with a toughness that belies its looks. The new X1 Carbon is, like its predecessor, forged from carbon fiber, which weighs less than magnesium and aluminium but is stronger than both.
The new X1 Carbon sports many significant upgrades from its predecessor which will definitely appeal to the modern on-the-go executive of today. First of these is the Adaptive Keyboard which allows the machine to adapt to the way users work. The Adaptive Keyboard adjusts dynamically based on the software or application being used to highlight the most relevant keys. It also integrates voice and gesture control, allowing users to interact with their PC in modern and familiar ways. The Haswell chip in the new X1 Carbon provides the necessary computing power that supports all the new features in the machine.
Users will also notice an improved viewing and touch experience. The new X1 Carbon’s ColorBurst Display provides sharper, brighter images at higher screen resolutions of up to 2,560 x 1,440 – making it even better for making presentations, video-conferencing and playing videos.
The new X1 Carbon maintains the RapidCharge technology of its predecessor, allowing for an 80% charge in under an hour. Coupled with an up to 9 hour battery life – and over 70% improvement from its predecessor – and optional built-in 3G capability, the new X1 Carbon will provide modern executives with the mobility and connectivity they need wherever they go.
For users needing an improved docking experience on a thin and light device, the new X1 Carbon utilizes the OneLink connector that eliminates cable clutter. This allows users to get power, Gigabit Ethernet, and dual display support through a single cable via ThinkPad OneLink docking solutions.
Blending Productivity and Entertainment
The Miix 2 8” is a compact multi-mode device that packs an Intel quad- core processor and IPS wide-angle, high-definition display into a small 8-inch tablet form factor. It measures 8.35mm thick and weighs in at 350g, with a 16:10 widescreen experience that deftly balances visual experience with portability.
The 800 x 1200 resolution display comes with 178-degree viewing angle, and the device sports two webcams which are included to make video-calls and photo sharing effortless.
Underneath the product’s slim exterior lies an Intel®Bay Trail-T Quad Core processor and an integrated Intel HD Graphics with Clear Video HD technology for smooth video performance. Coupled with 3G connectivity, this combination of speed and responsiveness separates the Miix 2 8” from the tablet pack, while making the most of the pre-loaded Windows 8.1 OS. Microsoft Office also comes pre-installed, ensuring that users can be productive right from the get-go.
