Looking for a portable gaming machine to bring to LAN parties? A small form factor computer may be a good choice for serious gamers, but why not take a look at the latest and greatest gaming laptops at IT SHOW 2013? They could even be your desktop computer replacement with their huge screen size and large screen resolution. Coupled with great consumer gaming based dedicated graphics card, these machines are going to blow your mind and allow you to play games possibly even at the highest settings.
ACER
AMD APUs based laptops are the best bang for the buck gaming laptops found at IT SHOW 2013. In fact, APUs will perform much better in laptops if the resolution is probably at 1366 x 768. That is what the Acer V3 551G is all about. The built in APU graphics core is partnered with another dedicated graphics card added onto the system, making it a dual GPU (AMD Crossfire X) GPU setup called a Radeon HD7670D. It’s superb for games and will be a great all rounder laptop as it is also powered by AMD’s quad core processor, namely the A8-4500M.

$999 with free 8GB RAM Upgrade |
Best of all? It’s only $999 with a free upgrade to 8GB RAM. However, do expect that this laptop is probably not the most slim of all, like most laptops which are made for gaming.
AFTERSHOCK
AFTERSHOCK PC is a relatively new player in the market. They are based in Singapore and targets Singapore gamers with their “kick ass” gaming laptops. With highly customizable laptops, prices and specification varies to each individual. It is up to you to make the trade-offs between price and performance.

XM17
|
XM17 has a Full HD 17.3″ display and comes with an Nvidia GTX660M 2GB Graphics card. This base machine can then be upgraded to a Core i7 processor with a maximum of 24GB RAM with a 512GB SSD for ultimate performance. Prices starts at $1982.
ASUS
I was often asked to recommend my friends a good gaming laptop. Although ASUS has always been one of my favourite brands, I am not going to be biased and still recommend the ASUS G75VX-T4072 as the best gaming laptop at IT SHOW 2013.
Although the G75VX comes in various SKUs, the $2098 model blows all other competition models away. This model comes with a great Nvidia GeForce GTX670MX Graphics Card and a Quad Core Ivy Bridge Core i7-3630QM mobile processor. That is probably what all you need for a good gaming computer.
ASUS G75VX-T4072 has a Full-HD 17.3″ Non-Glare display. This is as opposed to more popular glossy display. Non-Glare displays are great for gaming as they work well under extreme light conditions without any reflections off the screen, disturbing the gamer. It also has a huge 750GB Hard Drive and comes with 8GB RAM built in, but it can be upgraded to 16GB for free at IT SHOW 2013. We also made sure that if you really want this machine so badly, simply asking the sales person to upgrade it to 24GB RAM and claim that “other vendors are doing the same” will probably work. This is because it is true.
DELL ALIENWARE
Alienware machines need no introduction. They are flashy gaming laptops that has attracted many serious gamers for years. Both M14x and M17x are on promotion at IT SHOW 2013.
This M14X machine comes with GT650M Nvidia GeForce Graphics card and a quad core Intel Core-i7 processor. Although the price is reasonable for an Alienware machine, we were sceptical with the performance on the GT650M for really hard core gaming.
The M17X 17.3 inch Alienware could probably make more sense at $2499 with a GTX660M Graphics Card and GTX660M Nvidia Geforce Graphics Card, but prices are still high as compared to other brands. This is because when buy an Alienware, it’s not about the specifications but usually the amount of swag you increase in the personal swag meter and also Dell’s great on-site warranty services. Besides that, you also get a free 2nd year premium warranty on the M17X purchase at IT SHOW 2013.
LENOVO
Lenovo has got a new gaming laptop up for showcase and sale. The Y500 usually has 1 GTX650M graphics processor within, but at IT SHOW 2013, Lenovo will but adding an additional GTX650M to make it one of the few dual GPU enabled SLI machine. This monster comes in a 15.6″ form factor and has an stunning red backlit keyboard. As the standard of all gaming laptops, it also comes with a Intel Core i7-3630QM quad core processor and 8GB of RAM. Some resellers are throwing in different freebies together with this machine. Price? $1999. It’s a good pricing for such dual GPU specifications.
MSI
Similar to Acer’s AMD based gaming laptop offering, MSI GX60IAC also uses a AMD platform. However, MSI has super charged this system, putting in a faster A10 AMD quad core CPU and a AMD flagship HD7970M Graphics Card within it. There’s probably no other gaming laptop that will reach such high frame rates as the MSI GX60IAC at a price of only $2299. Besides that, MSI is also using a 72000RPM drives which is 10x faster than usual 7200RPM drive. This could probably be because of a mistake in their brochure, and of course it’s a 7200RPM drive as compared to a slower 5400RPM drive. We are also getting a nice MSI gaming mouse with the purchase, which is pretty neat.
However, if AMD is not your cup of tea, Intel alternatives are also available at MSI’s booth.
