Developers will know how easy it is to port an Android application to the new BlackBerry 10 OS. Simply upload the apk file online and download the converted bar file to be uploaded to BlackBerry World. It’s that simple. These ports gave an initial boost to the number of applications found on BlackBerry World. However, developers have neglected optimizing their applications on the platforms, and users are complaining that their experience on the ported applications aren’t as good.
The current BlackBerry 10 OS makes use of the Android 2.3 runtime based from more than two years ago. We have to admit that the Android 2.3 runtime is a bit behind its times. Luckily, CrackBerry reported that BlackBerry has confirmed that Android runtime for the BlackBerry 10 system will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the near future. No specific dates were announced.
